Companies that respect their users’ privacy by implement consent requirements for Analytics cookies will likely experience data loss from their Google Analytics reporting proportional to the amount of users who decline Analytics cookies. This results in incomplete measurement scenarios and effectively creates a data gap, creating a tension of balancing data privacy vs running a data-driven business.
By making use of advanced consent mode implementations within Google Tag Manager and our preferred Cookie Management Platform (CMP), we are able fill this data gap. Through our advanced implementation, we leverage behavioural modelling in Google Analytics 4, which allows us to bridge the data gap by modelling the behaviour of users who decline analytics cookies based on the behaviour of similar users who accept analytics cookies. The training data used for modelling is based on the consented user data from the property where modelling is activated.
This enables us to optimize for your business goals whilst still respecting the privacy choices of your website visitors. When your website visitors deny consent, instead of storing cookies, our advanced tags instead send signals (or cookieless pings) to Google.
